Art of St Andrews Collection: 2022 Release
The Art of St Andrews Collection 2022 is the second in a series of annual releases
A Fife-based artist, renowned for her oil paintings of the rugged Scottish coastline, has been commissioned to produce an artwork for the award-winning St Andrews based distillery Eden Mill.
The painting by Mairi Clark, whose work is displayed in galleries across Scotland, will feature on the presentation case of the second release of its limited-edition The Art of St Andrews Collection of single malts, which will launch to mark St Andrews Day on 30th November.
The Art of St Andrews Collection 2022 is the second in a series of annual releases, celebrating the spirit, landscape and flavours of Eden Mill’s iconic coastal hometown.
“Mairi’s richly textured and vividly coloured painting of the dramatic St Andrews coastline echoes the marriage of the deep and characterful flavours in this year’s single malt expression, combining the subtle beauty of the surrounding area with the rush and excitement of the sea,”
Matthew Turner, Marketing Director at Eden Mill Distillery.
The artist has also carefully included a bright point on the horizon which depicts the new Eden Mill distillery, currently under construction on the banks of the Eden Estuary, and due to open in early 2024.
“The Art of St Andrews 2022 release is something extremely special. It combines a sweet, yet subtly spicy whisky, with a rush of sherry and apple notes, all underpinned by a toasty, buttery nuttiness and zesty bitters.
Scott Ferguson, Head Distiller.
“We wanted this year’s expression in The Art of St Andrews Collection to be recognisable and different, not just because of the delicious whisky we have produced, but in order to portray the patience, passion and pursuit of perfection in our art. This is exactly why we are partnering with local artists, who are inspired like us, by the soul and scenery of St Andrews, the beautiful place we call home.”
Eden Mill plans to commission St Andrews artists to produce similarly inspired, hand-crafted artworks to adorn future releases of the Collection, adding unique character to the limited-edition whiskies. Each interpretation will come from a different art medium, showcasing the talent of the region and the synergy of all art forms, from distilling to canvas.
Mairi Clark began her career creating evocative paintings of the Scottish coastline, following the completion of a Fine Art degree at Central St Martins School of Art in London. She returned home to Scotland and is renowned for her evocative paintings of the sea, sky and landscapes of the coastline.
“I’m honoured to have been commissioned by Eden Mill to pay tribute to St Andrews. It has been a pleasure to work with artisans of a different medium, whose passion and inspiration is drawn from the sea, sky and landscape like my own. The immortalisation of our land and seascapes in both paint and whisky, will be a story that lasts the ages.”

The Art of St Andrews Collection will be exclusively launched at a tasting event at the Fairmont Hotel St Andrews on 30th November 2022.
